    1. Eplan Smart Sourcing

      Eplan Smart Sourcing

For Eplan, “Efficient Engineering” means developing solutions that optimise electrical design processes. The latest example is Eplan Smart Sourcing – ESS for short – our vision of intelligent procurement in electrical design. ESS enables control cabinet manufacturers and system integrators, in particular, to speed up their planning. This is because the tool makes it clear, right from the design stage, where and how quickly the required parts can be sourced. For many companies, the availability of components is a crucial factor in the efficiency of electrical design. If designers know the stock levels of suppliers for the parts they need, or their lead times, they can adjust their planning accordingly. A query via ESS can also benefit manufacturers and distributors. This is because it gives them the opportunity to find out more about their customers’ specific requirements. Unlike in the past, manufacturers and distributors now have the chance to bring their components to the attention of design engineers at just the right time. In this way, they can also reach new customers – without significant effort or wasted coverage.

Is there a gap between the ECAD system and the ERP or PDM system in your company? Consistent data flows ensure transparency in the product development process. The Eplan Integration Suite, as the name implies, creates integrations into existing ERP, PDM and PLM system landscapes, allowing you to optimise your work processes from schematics to master data. The fast and customised provision of data takes place in a bi-directional exchange between systems without you ever having to leave your working environment within the Eplan Platform.

    4. ES series housing with illuminated guard and buzzer

ES series housing with illuminated guard and buzzer

The range of ES series housings now includes a new version with raised illuminated guard and integrated buzzer. This new housing is available in the following three versions with cover: - opaque yellow without light (no electronics); - yellow with white LED; - white with RGB LEDs. Key features: - The upper guard protects the button from dust and dirt, prevents accidental activation and facilitates resetting of the emergency stop button; - Customisable illuminated guard with RGB LEDs increases the visibility of the housing on the machine; - Option to configure the housing with various devices, e.g. multiple-position selectors; - Integrated buzzer for acoustic signal; - Sound effect with minimum intensity of 55 dB at a distance of 1 metre acc. to lift standards EN 81-20 and EN 81-50. The function of the housing can be configured by the user with the internal terminal strip, enabling set-up of: - colours of RGB LEDs; - steady or blinking mode for LED signalling; - continuous or intermittent modes for acoustic signalling.

    5. Ethernet Cable Guard

      Ethernet Cable Guard

The Cable Guard is looped into the drag chain cable to be monitored and can provide information about the quality of the cable connection via a status LED, a separate network connection or a digital output. The feedback can be displayed as a PWM signal at the output. The alarm threshold value can be set individually. For integration into IIoT structures, the monitored cable status can also be sent via MQTT by the Cable Guard. The particularly compact design is suitable for use in decentralized control cabinets and can be mounted on standard top-hat rails. The Cable Guard is also suitable for EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP and 2-pair PROFINET applications.

    6. Ethernet IO Modules with IO-Link Master

Ethernet IO Modules with IO-Link Master

The new Ethernet IO modules from Pepperl+Fuchs support all common Ethernet protocols, such as PROFINET, EtherNet/IP and EtherCAT. The L-encoded M12 plug, compliant with the power-connection concept newly defined by the PNO, supplies the connected units with currents of up to 16 A with no additional installation needs. The modules can be used independently of the control panel and permit autonomous applications. They clear the way for distributed signal transfer within the meaning of Industrie 4.0. The multiprotocol feature permits standardization in the machine where different module types were previously required. Change between protocols by simply using a rotary selector switch. The IP address for EtherNet/IP can also be directly set. The integrated web server allows for complete parameterization in addition to addressing, as well as the retrieval of status and diagnostic information via PC. The new power concept with an L-encoded M12 plug-in connector provides a power supply of up to 16 A and can therefore also cover peak loads. This reduces parallel wiring and supply adjustments by up to 40 percent. The robust, fully cast metal housing has an IP65/67 degree of protection and is very compact at only 200 mm long and 18 mm high. Simple programming is sufficient for the modules to perform distributed functions and to take the load off the central control panel. Complexity of communication and response times are reduced and a central overview is maintained. The distributed logic can be limited to some of the IOs, while the others continue under the central control panel. This permits an interaction between the control panel and the distributed process program. The integrated isochronous real time (IRT) switch supports the MRP ring topologies for PROFINET and DLR for EtherNet/IP. Ethernet IO modules support multiple protocols and provide currents of 16 A via the M12 connection.

    7. Ethernet-APL: The key to successful digitization in the field of process industries

Ethernet-APL: The key to successful digitization in the field of process industries

Ethernet-APL enables operators to run a continuous communication network based on standard Ethernet right into explosion-hazardous areas. The Ethernet-APL rail field switch converts the standard Ethernet to a two-wire, twisted pair Ethernet where both power and data can be transmitted, which significantly streamlines the infrastructure and at the same time allows the connection of modern, intelligent field devices. These devices provide far more information than just their actual measured value: they can provide status data, perform self-diagnostics, and integrate seamlessly into asset management systems. Furthermore, Ethernet-APL enables data transfer rates of up to 10 Mbit/s, a significant increase compared to conventional fieldbus systems. At the same time, it supports cable lengths of up to 1,000 meters on the trunk or 200 meters on spur lines, thus also setting standards in terms of range. Ethernet-APL is therefore the leading technology for new measuring points or extensions to existing systems, paving the way towards end-to-end digitization and laying the foundation for predictive maintenance and transparent system monitoring.

    8. Even more cost-effective and selection for rack and pinion drives

Even more cost-effective and selection for rack and pinion drives

Neugart is introducing further planetary gearboxes with pinions pre-assembled at the factory. For rack and pinion drives, planetary gearboxes with a factory-mounted pinion offer the ideal drive solution. Neugart is now introducing a particularly economical model with this option and is also refining the corresponding range. This allows design engineers to choose from an even greater number of possible pinion and gearbox combinations when implementing racks. For the first time, Neugart is now offering the PLPE Economy planetary gearbox with a factory-mounted pinion. This provides a particularly economical alternative for selection. The PLPE offers high performance at the price of an economy gearbox: It is based on the proven Neugart economy gearing technology. The reinforced deep groove ball bearings mounted on the output side are designed for greater radial and axial forces – compared to the PLE gearbox. Thanks to the wide range of different motor adapters, the PLPE can be attached to almost all standard servo motors in just a few simple steps. Its compact outer contour also allows it to be used in situations where space is limited. The PLPE is available with a pinion in four frame sizes: 070, 090, 120 and 155. The PK1 series of pinions has also been added to the range. These pinions are mounted on the toothed output shaft of the gearbox. Toothing to DIN 5480 ensures the necessary connection reliability. A total of seven additional PK1 pinions are now available: two with helical teeth and five with straight teeth. The new variants also include a helical and a straight pinion with module 1.5 teeth.

    9. EVolution EMC

      EVolution EMC

AGRO has set itself the challenge of developing an EMC cable gland that can withstand the effects of high switching frequencies from DC/DC converters and AC invorters. In this regard, the cable gland’s operational reliability and durability are very important. The result is EVolution EMC, a high-quality solution that impresses in relation to functionality, efficiency and reliability. This significantly shifts previous performance limits and the entire assembly process of cable glands into new dimensions. The pre-assembly and final installation are simplified and significantly more reliable.
