The mobile welding demonstrator is based on a collaborative robot and illustrates how welding processes in small-batch production can be efficiently automated. Intuitive programming options—via free-drive functions combined with control elements on the panel—allow for the programming of simple welding paths. This clearly demonstrates how easily small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can access robotics. The mobile welding demonstrator exemplifies PAL's approach of making digitalization, artificial intelligence, automation, and robotics readily available to companies in the Lausitz region. The project thus addresses key elements of Germany's High-Tech Agenda, which defines artificial intelligence as one of the key technologies for future competitiveness. The transfer of these technologies into practical application—especially in SMEs—is a crucial component of this strategy.
