Reduced CO2 use in the production of a premium lubricant for gears

Organic runs like clockwork

With GearFluid by SEW-EURODRIVE, the Bruchsal-based drive automation company is presenting a premium lubricant for gears that is made from sustainable biomass. It conserves fossil raw materials and helps to reduce dependence on oil.
GearFluid Poly 220 E1 is the first gear lubricant on the market that is produced from sustainable biomass. Because the base oil is produced without fossil raw materials, the CO2 release in the production process of GearFluid Poly is reduced by 84% compared to conventional polyglycol oils. This new premium lubricant thus also supports customers in reducing their corporate carbon footprint. GearFluid is tested according to the high quality requirements of the SEW test specifications. Maximum wear protection for the gearing and the roller bearings reduces the risk of failures. The low friction values of the premium lubricant increase the transmission efficiency. The new gear lubricant GearFluid Poly 220 E1 with a viscosity of 220 is now available. It can often be optionally selected as the initial filling for the standard gearboxes and geared motors and the servo gearboxes and geared motors. This lubricant is available in 20 liter canisters for service and maintenance purposes.
Lubricants for use in industrial gears are usually based on a base oil made from petroleum. Together with suppliers, SEW-EURODRIVE succeeded in producing the first industrial gear lubricant based on sustainable biomass. In a synthesis process, biowaste and food leftovers, among other things, whose extraction does not take up additional agricultural land, are processed into a high-quality base oil. The biomass used for this corresponds to the Renewable Energy Directive of the EU Commission.
