FMCW radar sensors: Reliable distance measurement and object detection for mobile machines
Distance - movement - area - speed - barrier. Measuring tasks on mobile machines require robust yet precise technologies for detecting the environment or the objects in it. Radar sensors from Pulsotronic use FMCW radar technology in the 60 GHz range (continuous wave radar) and fulfill their tasks where conventional systems such as ultrasonic or laser sensors capitulate. Virtually insensitive to environmental influences such as temperature fluctuations or soiling, radar sensors enable distance measurements, distinguish between moving and non-moving objects, detect speeds, locate objects in an area or suppress interfering background information. The sensors detect objects at distances of up to 35m with an accuracy of up to 4cm - and in an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C without any significant signal deviation. The extremely flat design with a height of only 15 mm enables optimum adaptation to existing external contours without disruptive geometries. Radar sensors work with an integrated antenna. Application-specific adjustments to the measuring range or aperture angle (10-140°) can be set via firmware interfaces. Optional interfaces via CAN, IO-Link or SPE (ex works) round off the universal application profile of the sensors; safety-relevant applications with an IO-Link Safety interface are also planned for the near future. The sensory performance of the radar sensors predestines them for use on agricultural machinery, industrial trucks, construction machinery or also in the field of current flow monitoring and as a component of fleet management systems.

6DoF-Sensors
The six degrees of freedom (6DoF) describe the freedom of movement of a rigid body in a three-dimensional space Inclination - Acceleration - Gyroscope - Rotation - Translation - Angle Measurement jobs on mobile machines require robust and precise technologies as well to detect the movement of the systems in an open and harsh environment. 6DoF sensors use various basic physical principles for different sensor functions in one sensor chip. MEMS sensors are used to transmit position and angle values to a processing unit in the backend of the sensor. PULSOTRONIC 6DoF sensors detect acceleration values up to 32g and angular rates up to +/- 2000 dps. An internal temperature sensor allows the stabilization of the system in a temperature range between -40°C and +85°C. The most important advantages of using such sensors in mobile machines is the independence from the earth's magnetic field, the compensated cross-sensitivity and a high vibration immunity stabilized by sensor fusion algorithms. Application-specific adjustments of the measuring ranges can be changed within the firmware. Several options for communication are in place like or CAN, SPI and IO-Link. An SPE interface will be also available shortly. Safetyrelevant applications with an IO-Link safety interface will be solved in near future. The performance of the 6DoF sensor is predestines for applications in agricultural machinery, forklift trucks, construction machinery, as well as in the field of wind power plants, photovoltaics, robotics or as part of fleet management systems.

Strain Gauge Sensors
Strain gauge sensors - high-precision monitoring of static and dynamic deformations and changes in material structures. Load - Strain - Torsion - Bend - Force - Movement Strain gauges are metallic-electric measuring elements that precisely measure forces, loads, torque, etc. in dynamic and static processes. Strain gauges operate based on the physical effect by which the electrical resistance of a measuring grid changes proportionally to the strain exerted on the wire when stretched or compressed. Long term measurement, continuous or peak monitoring - due to their structural design strain gauge sensors are suitable for permanentely detecting of movements in minimal dimensions. Deformations result from the effects of forces and, even at microscopic levels, can have devastating effects on the operation and safety of machines and systems. Sensors for controlling stretches and compressions permanently and reliably monitor these minimal anomalies, even in harsh and mobile environments. The most outstanding feature of the strain gauge sensors from PULSOTRONIC is the precise, custom-fit adaptation of mechanics and electronics to the customer application. For this type of measurement task it applies: the more precise the adjustment, the more optimal the signal output. As an add-on feature, we offer flexible parameterization via optional digital interfaces.
